Urgent prayer needed for Orissa

Hi my brothers and sisters in Christ,

Please get this prayer request out to as many as possible as soon as possible.

Dear Brother Reggie Naidoo,

Greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Thank you for all of your concerned prayers lifted at the Throne of Grace on our behalf during the past. It is with a great burden that I share this Prayer Request with you that you may pray for us and also encourage your family and friends to go on their knees to seek the Lord on behalf of the Christians who are persecuted in Orissa, Karnataka, and in the other parts of India, during the past months, which is still continuing.

As you would be aware through the media coverage, the Christian community in Orissa, India, is facing a desperate situation as their homes are being looted and burnt, churches demolished, people beaten to death and in some gory cases the homes were locked from outside and torched killing all those who were inside. The fanatics and fundamentalists are hand in hand in these places with only a single purpose in mind and that is to wipe out the Christians and all the Gospel related activity as much as they could as they do not want to see the kingdom of God expanding on this earth.

So far hundreds of churches have been demolished to the ground, houses burnt to ashes, many people tortured, beaten and murdered, and in some cases as I have mentioned above, houses were locked from outside and torched by the fanatics.

Thousands of people have become homeless and are taking shelter in the thickets of the nearby jungle that is home to many wild animals including tigers. There is nothing to protect them from sun, rain and the cold at nights. The children have no milk to feed on, the adults have no food to eat, no clothes to change and no clean water to drink. The people keep on moving from one place to another for the fear of being detected by the fanatics. If they come into the village in search of food, they will be caught and beaten, however, people risk their lives and sneak into the nearby villages at night to grab whatever they can and return to the jungle to feed their wife and children. These kind of atrocities have been there on for years in many parts of India, but now it has taken a new dimension and very vicious.

Your prayers are very much needed for God to touch the fanatics and those who are against the spread of the Gospel, and ease out the situation that peace may reign again in these areas and that people could lead a normal life free from all fear and violence.

Thank you in advance for taking this into your heart. We love you very much and greatly appreciate your concerned prayers on our behalf.

Sincerely,
In Christ Jesus,
FRANK GODBERG

I was wondering what may have happened to the idea you had asked
about some time back at the cave.
You wanted to know if anyone was interested in doing a web site or blog site for people who were curious about christianity. I was wondering if you got any support from any one on the idea? I had a simular thought about 8 or more years ago but didn't act on it because I didn't have any backround in doing something like that. I know everyone is busy (myself as well) and probably would have limited time, but I think it may be a good idea yet. We seem to have a good deal of learned people at the cave who may contribute. Anyway, it had come back to my thoughts recently and I was wondering what may have happened with it. God Bless!!

Hi GT,

Alesia and I have discussed different ideas regarding some sort of outreach blog but only at a superficial level. I haven’t had little feedback other than that. If you recall, at the time of my question at the cave, some of us were steeped in discussing our differing rapture viewpoints. I must confess that eschatology has always been a passion of mine and more recently I’ve buried myself in studying the different rapture views. Up until then I had intended to post some articles deriving out of my own study of the rapture in my blog. But really, looking around at this tired old world, day by day we can see that time is running out and our focus needs to be on spreading the Good News and helping to win souls, as well as sounding a warning. So I’ve changed my strategy.

Personally, I’d love to have some sort of mirror site to Joel’s blog. Joel’s books attract lots of readers from all walks of life. I thought it was great when Joel re-enabled comments and we also had the cave. I picked up that a lot of the anonymous posters needed the feedback that some were giving them. Alas, Joel had to pull the comments because of one or two rabble rousers. And it was a wise thing for him to do as some of the comments were downright defamatory of him and disrespectful of others.

I’ve been toying with the idea of contacting Joel and asking his permission to set up a mirror blog-site. Maybe call it something like the “Friends of Joel C Rosenberg Epicenter” or something like that. That way, people who read his books and want to know more about him would Google and also come across the blog. When Joel recently changed to Wordpress he had comments briefly enabled and a whole bunch of new people immediately began to comment. A mirror blog-site would be strictly a Joel Resenberg site linking to his blog, website and the Joshua Fund. We’d need to ask his permission to do it. There would be concerns for him such as who would be administering it and how. Even if he gave his blessing, we would still need to discuss administration and administrators.

Any thoughts/ideas?

mac;
The Joel Rosenberg blog sounds like a good idea, but it probably would attract some bad elements like the old one did. However, it seems that one must take the bad with the good when doing blogs that are about controversial things like Joel's books. It certainly would get a lot of hits like his old blog did. Trying to do something from scratch would take some time to develop and would probably not receive much traffic to begin with. Having an established subject matter (like Joel's books) would have a built in following and may be a good launching pad for other subject matter (in fact thats what happened on the old blog anyway) contributors rarely talked about the books.

The biggest concern would be administration, as you stated. I don't remember if you stated this idea at the cave before (about a Joel mirror site) but it may get a good reaction there and it is what brought all of us together in the first place. If I remember correctly, someone at the cave was able to contact Joel directly about matters with the old blog. It may just spark an interest at the cave (especially with lisa who loves to blog and has by far the most posts). All things considered, it (the Joel blog) seems the best idea at this time. Anyway, just some thoughts, and ramblings, God Bless!
